報告題目:Towards Global Rate Distortion Optimization in Video Coding: Challenges and Recent Developments

摘要:The past decades have witnessed great advancement of video coding techniques and their wide applications in video storage and delivery, where rate-distortion optimization (RDO) plays a crucial role to maximize coding efficiency in video coding. In the current block-based hybrid video coding using motion compensation, the RDO is typically performed on the block level individually and independently, which is far from being optimal as it ignores the strong spatial-temporal dependency. However a global RDO problem becomes so complex that the processing of each coding unit is dependent and entangled each other due to the extensive use of spatial-temporal predictions in video coding. In the talk, I will discuss the challenges of achieving global RDO in one-pass video coding and present our recent work considering the temporal dependency on top of the latest video coding standard HEVC.
朱策任職于電子科技大學信息與通信學院,長江學者特聘教授,IEEE Fellow,IEEE兩個學會(CASS和BTS)的傑出講座人(Distinguished Lecturer)。長期致力于視頻圖像處理的教學與研究事情。先後擔任了8個SCI國際學術期刊編委(其中5個为IEEE期刊,如IEEE Transactions on Image Processing、IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology),担当了多個国际学术聚会会议步伐委员会主席,包罗IEEE ICME 2017的步伐委員會配合主席(TPC Co-Chair)並榮獲傑出領導獎(Outstanding Leadership Award)。2017及2018年度連續入選愛思唯爾(Elsevier)中國高被引學者(Chinese Most Cited Researchers)榜單。更多信息請參見主頁http://www.avc2-lab.net/~eczhu
